State Advisories
Almost every State in the U.S. has issued a fish consumption advisory to warn residents about the pollutants that can be found in fish that are captured from rivers, streams, lakes and reservoirs.
Fish that you catch locally are often called ‘recreationally-caught fish,’ and some may contain very high levels of pollutants (mercury, PCBs, chlordane, dioxins, flame retardants). It is highly recommended to check a local fish consumption advisory before eating your catch.
